Pulverized Material

The Asphalt Zipper® pulverizes asphalt into reusable one inch minus material. Many engineers prefer this to new material because it grades smoothly and packs tightly. When this is mixed with the base, and compacted well, it provides a sturdy foundation for the new asphalt course.

Scarified Edges

The Asphalt Zipper® leaves a scarified edge instead of smooth edge. This is very critical for bonding with new asphalt. Tests have shown that the interlocking grooves bind stronger to the new asphalt providing a longer-lasting, more waterproof patch that is less prone to slip or settle.
