For patching, the Asphalt Zipper® machine leaves a scarified edge instead of a smooth edge which enhances bonding with new asphalt.
University research has shown that the interlocking grooves bind stronger to the new asphalt providing a longer-lasting, more waterproof patch that is less prone to slip or settle.
The Asphalt Zipper® machine pulverizes asphalt into reusable material that grades smoothly and packs tightly. This reconstructed roadbase provides the foundation for the new asphalt wear course.
